ZANZIBAR BEACH HOLIDAY SAFARI

The island of Unguja along with Pemba forms a semi autonomous state of Zanzibar. Situated 25km off the east African mainland and about 6 degrees south of equator, Zanzibar is a true tropical paradise. The even coastline, flat sandy beaches doted with coconut trees makes Zanzibar one of the most frequented tourist destinations in east Africa.

The stone town, the oldest part of Zanzibar, consists of 2500 buildings all made of coral stone, lime and clay, hence the name. The stone town is built on a 95 acres peninsula. With its narrow lanes, 45 mosques, 2 old churches, 4 Hindu halls and baobab trees, the old town is the most interesting and fascinating part of Zanzibar.

Town tour, is a half day guided trip which also includes short walks that enable the clients to explore the fascinating historical sites of the old parts of Zanzibar town, the tour will include a visit to the Former slave market (The Anglican Cathedral), the Historical and natural history museums of Zanzibar, the house of wonders, the old fort, Dr. Livingstone House, the old Central Market of Zanzibar, etc.  The tour can be arranged either in the morning of 09:00HRS. to 12:00HRS. or in the afternoon 15:00HRS. to 18:00HRS

 SPICE PLANTATION TOUR

In former times Zanzibar greatly prospered because of the production of spices. The Oman sultan Said Sayyid moved his capital from Muscat to Zanzibar and encouraged the growth of spice. Zanzibar was in an advantageous position in spice trade because other spices islands were further from Europe. Today Zanzibar earns far less from spices but she is still referred to as a spice island. A variety of spices are found in Zanzibar. These include cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, cloves, pepper etc. A visit to spice growing villages such as Bububu, Kijichi and Kizimbani will give a visitor an opportunity to smell and taste fresh spices.

 SPICE PLANTATION TOUR
Is a half-day driving trip for a guided Spice tour in the countryside of the island.  This is a site seeing trip reveal the wonderful nature which involves frequent stops on small farms of cash crops, food crops, spices, flowering trees and plants, medical trees and varieties of mints. The tour will cover an area of 20 kms crossing many villages such as Bububu, Kijichi and Kizimbani northwards of Stone Town.  Clients will be able to see, touch, smell and even taste some of the spices and fruits available on the Island.  The trip also offers invitingly attractive photographic scenery on the fruit gardens; mud houses thatched with coconut palm leaves and the living style of Zanzibar is in the countryside areas. The tour starts either in the morning at 09:00HRS. to 12:00HRS. or in the afternoon at 15:00HRS. to 18:00HRS.

PRISON ISLAND {CHANGUU}
The prison or Changuu Island is one of the four islands that are off the coast of Zanzibar. An Arab initially owned this island, and it was used as a confinement for rebellious slaves. When the slave trade was abolished the island was sold to a Briton called General Lloyds Mathew who builds a prison there in 1893. This prison was apparently never used as the name suggests, but to quarantine those who contract contagious diseases.

This island is famous for the giant tortoise imported by Sultan Said in the 1820’s from Seychelles whose life span is more than hundred years (100).

Half day or full day trip to this small resort can be arranged. It takes 35minutes to reach the Island.. The Island is endowed with attractive natural features; a waking safari covers the Island in 15minutes. One might go to the white sand beach for swimming or to the colorful coral reef for snorkeling. Various bird species are found on this island.

 JOZANI FOREST
